Anavar is the popular brand name of androgenic anabolic steroid Oxandrolone. Anavar was first released to the prescription market in the beginning of the 1960’s by G.D Searle & Co. Cardiovascular side effects of Anavar should be a concern. Anavar suppresses HDL cholesterol and increases LDL cholesterol. You should not use the steroid if your cholesterol levels are not within normal range. You should monitor cholesterol levels throughout the cycle, and implement a cholesterol friendly lifestyle that includes diet and cardiovascular activity.
Testosterone related side effects will definitely occur during Oxandrolone usage. The steroid will suppress natural testosterone production. Though the suppression rate of Oxandrolone is one of the lowest, all men still should use some synthetic testosterone during the cycle, and post cycle therapy (PCT) after that. Failure to do so might lead to a low testosterone condition, with all its negative effects.

The most common dosage for male performance enhancement is between 30 to 50 mgs per day. Some professional athletes use higher dosages but this will increase the possibility of side effects. The length of the Anavar cycle typically lasts from 6 to 8 weeks.
For female performance enhancement, the dosage of Oxandrolone ranges from 10 to 20 mgs daily. This dosage range allows the achievement of noticeable results with minimum possibility of side effects. Doses over 20 mgs will typically guarantee some level of virilization. Depending on genetic predisposition, it could be an insignificant reversible virilization, or a strong irreversible one. The length of the standard female Anavar cycle is between 6 to 8 weeks.
